The Elite two-sided mattress is built on a 12.5-gauge offset coil innerspring, a heavier, more flexible coil system than the traditional Bonnell coil used in many entry-level mattresses, reinforced with double edge side supports along the perimeter (12 supports on Twin and Full sizes, 14 on Queen and King). High-density polyurethane foam, including a dedicated high-density perimeter support layer rated at 44 ILD, keeps the edges firm enough to sit or sleep on without the mattress collapsing at the sides.

Every Elite two-sided mattress is hand-assembled in Sugarcreek, Ohio, where insulation layers are carefully placed to keep the foam padding from compressing into the coils below, a step that protects against the body impressions that shorten the life of lower-quality mattresses. Aligning those layers and binding the cover with a tape-edger finish is done by hand on every unit that leaves the workshop.
